Emphasis on Real-world Experiences and Interpersonal Skills
Over the course of four years, I had the honor to be a part of the Art Institute of Michigan Novi and Troy campuses as an educator and activity support in the graphic design and art fundamentals areas. The course curriculum that I taught ranged from software classes in Photoshop and Animate to Professional Development and Portfolio. Many of my students placed best-in-show and runner-up at the quarterly portfolio show. I also spent a couple of years teaching the english language online to Chinese children located in China. Currently, I am an adjunct faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University teaching Layout and Publication Design, Digital Imaging, and Digital Publishing online or asynchronously.
Two of my main goals in academics are to link course activities/exercises to real-world experiences and to enhance the interpersonal skills of students. I incorporate on-the-job experiences and enhancement of articulation tools into the competencies of all the classes I teach.
Classes Taught
This a list of classes that I have experience teaching at the Art Insitute, Education First, and Southern New Hampshire University. Many of them I taught multiple times like the Portfolio class. The class was taught in a cross-listed approach which included students from several programs such as graphic design, animation, fashion, and interior design. One special experience was teaching Photoshop during the summer to high school students who were preparing to attend the Art Insitute in the fall semester. I also taught English as a second language online from the United States to Chinese children in China. I am primarily focusing on publication design and digital imaging courses at SNHU.
